If you could rename The Loop, what would you call it? The voice of the characters make them more alive than ever and bring more personality to each character I loved listening to this book on audible because I felt like John Bedford Lloyd did an amazing job at differentiating all the characters. I might compare this book to Barbra Kingsolver's "Flight Behavior" because of the real life environmental concern.ĭid John Bedford Lloyd do a good job differentiating all the characters? How? What other book might you compare The Loop to and why? I appreciated the real issue that was incorporated. I loved that The Loop gave facts about an on going issue in a story that was easy to listen to.
In my opinion, this recording is not worth the hours that went into recording it.
Whereas I am typically very happy with my Audible purchases, I would not have purchased "The Loop," had I known that it is not the John Bedford Lloyd recording. Kramer sounds unsure of himself as he narrates his presentation lacks the confident storytelling cadence and characterizations of Lloyd's narration. Kramer's narration distracts from the actual story, as his voice goes up at the end of the majority of sentences as if each sentence were a question. Unfortunately, the difference in narrators makes all the difference in the tone of the story as it is told. However, the actual audiobook available for purchase on Audible is the Books on Tape unabridged version read by Michael Kramer. (I know this because it is identical to the RHA 10-cassette recording I have of the Lloyd version). The brief audio sample on Audible is indeed taken from the beginning of the unabridged Random House Audio recording by John Bedford Lloyd. However, this is not the narration that downloaded from the link after I purchased this book.
